Bella is an artist, art educator, designer, and mother based in Midcoast Maine. In her studio practice, she pushes the limitations of color through various methods of representation and abstraction. Through gestural brushstrokes, Bella intentionally highlights the beauty of imperfection created by the human hand.

As an educator, she has worked in a variety of settings including public & private schools, museums, and alternative learning environments. Bella’s teaching practice compliments her studio work. By using a variety of mediums, she explores new concepts and techniques alongside her students. She creates lessons that are process-based and experimental.

Bella’s style of painting also comes through in her recent work as a designer. For design projects, some of her interests include hand-painted lettering, abstract mural art, and surface/textile design.

In her most recent work, Bella is interested in depicting everyday objects in her life as a mother of two young children. She explores the concepts of consumerism and collecting as a parent. Through this work, she is exploring the value of different items and how they fit into her family’s everyday life. By creating studies of these motifs, she is working on a series of paintings that will document a moment in time within motherhood.
